CLOSED
OPEN CALL: Strange, inherently
(deadline: August 28, 2026)
Sama / سما invites visual artists to submit for its inaugural exhibition, Strange, inherently.
It is strange to be human right now – by design, by algorithm, by the forces that profit from our attention, our data, and our sense of self, while the ground beneath us continues to shift. And we've fallen in line.
Strange, inherently is an exhibition that explores the tension between who we are and what we've been made to become. We invite work that sits with the strangeness of being human in this moment – work that asks what it means to be human when our behavior, our attention and our sense of self are being monetized and engineered to treat us as prey, and whether adaptation is survival or surrender.
Artists at any stage of their practice, working in any medium, from anywhere, are encouraged to submit.
If you're interested in visiting Sama / سما before submitting your work, or anytime, we'd love to meet you! Stop by 78th Street Studios during Third Friday on August 21 from 5-7pm. If you'd like to schedule a time, please reach out through our website at samaartprojects.com.
Submit
Artists may submit up to two works for consideration, not larger than 30 x 30 inches. Selected work must be available for the duration of the exhibition (September 17 – October 29). This is a juried show and not all submitted work will be selected, but we encourage you to stay connected – more exhibition opportunities are ahead. Works should be wall-based and thoughtfully considered for gallery display. Artists will be responsible for shipment or delivery of their work.
*Sama / سما will not be taking a commission on sales for our inaugrual exhibition*
